Here's part of an e-mail I received from Eric today (I cut out the private parts of course!!) ;)
....I feel much better today after having slept 9 hours last night. I got woken up a few times from jets taking off and landing, but went right back to sleep. The big ones are LOUD! Conditions here aren't too bad. It's not too hot (under 40) but there is a lot of dust. Food is ok, there's good salad available every meal so there's healthy stuff and good cookies for not so healthy stuff. Our offices are really nice and new but the living area is pretty sucky. It's worse thans Iraq was in 2004.... I'm living in a large open tent for the next few days, but should be heading to the other location in a few days. Not sure yet what my location will be like, but I think I will be in a tent for awhile....
... Today was lame...a bunch of generic classes about Afghanistan. Plus it was in an un-air-conditioned gym, so it was hot as hell. Tomorrow I'll start learning about my job....OK, gotta run. I'm doing fine, so don't worry. Not sure when I'll be able to call and Skype is a long way off still....
He's in Bagram right now and his new location will be Kandahar. If you already have things you would like to send please hold them until at least Monday- we don't want it to get there before he does (sometimes the packages/letters/etc. get lost this way).
Here's Eric's contact information:

The day that I was definitely not looking forward to
The day that I was definitely not looking forward to unfortunately arrived. Eric left yesterday (Wednesday) morning around 6:30 am Texas time. A van took him and a few other soldiers from Ft.Hood to Dallas. There they boarded a plane to Germany (Leipzig)- arrival there was about 1:30 am Texas time. After an hour on the ground for fuel and a crew change they left for Kuwait- arrival there was around 9:30 am Texas time. After that the soldiers got on a bus to a camp. That's the last thing I heard from him by text message this morning. I am glad he keeps me updated but it's still very hard for me to imagine my love so far away- he's texting me as if he was just away for some training. I guess it will take some time to get used to for both of us.
Thanks for all the support we got already from all of you!

Updates!
Nelson and I finally got to Killeen yesterday afternoon. We left Hagerstown on Monday, stayed the first night in Cookesville,TN and the second in Texarkana,AR. Nelson looooved to sleep in his own bed in TN

- he wasn't so lucky in AR, because there was only one bed and that was MINE! The drive was good although we hit some traffic around the bigger cities along our way and some rain as well. I think there's no Welcome Center between Maryland and Arizona that Nelson hasn't sniffed out/marked! He's a real "rest area pro" now! He also had fun chasing reflections in the backseat of the Volvo. He's totally obsessed with any kind of light reflections on the ceiling (from shiny objects like my watch or some plastic bottle). He could spend hours watching/hypnotizing them and then snapping at them while making all kinds of weird noises (like "grmmmpfs") and faces. He made me laugh a lot!

When I left Hagerstown Eric and I thought we wouldn't see each other until February 2010. We both were very sad and it was incredibly hard to say good-bye.
BUT....we are in the Army which means nothing is for sure. Eric found out that he has to come back to Ft.Hood to deploy. So......he will come back tonight and we get to spend at least the weekend together!!!!!! I am sooooooo excited but it also means we have to say our good-byes again.
