Scrapbooking

I recently started scrapbooking. For the Germans who read this blog: Scrapbooking is a method for preserving personal and family history in the form of photographs, printed media, and memorabilia contained in decorated albums, or scrapbooks. The idea of keeping printed materials of personal interest probably dates to shortly after the invention of printing. This trend is probably similar for photographs. Historically, scrapbooking was a tradition similar to storytelling, but with a visual and tactile, rather than an oral, focus.
I started a wedding-scrapbook:

...and one for Nelson:

Some may say "..uuuuhhh...how kitschy..." but it really is a lot of fun for me. It's surprisingly relaxing and when I go with Leigh and Christine to the scrapbooking- meetings (at a nice little store in Sierra Vista) Friday nights from 6-11pm (you get to use all the machines and 10% off the stuff in the store) I meet nice people, hear entertaining stories and enjoy some snacks. Hey- I am a self-confessed kitsch-being (?).....with a freckles-mustache.

Vicki,
The scrapebooks look great. I can't wait to see them in person. Have a good weekend.
