San Diego Fri/Sat

Last weekend (Columbus Day) Eric and I visited Jacob (Eric's best buddy) in San Diego. We had a great time! Our flight to SD left Tucson last Friday around 2pm. Jacob picked us up and took us to his place which is very nice and brand new (mmmmmmh....new house scent!!!!). He lives about 15-30 mins. away from the center of SD (depending on traffic... and driving style I guess) in the corner of a very nice little housing community (?). That night we had dinner with his parents at a Mexican restaurant and went to their place for a drink. Jacob showed us a little of San Diego at night after that. On Saturday we went to see the Marine Corps recruit center:

We've never seen such luxury on a military post/base. It was beautiful and looked like a very expensive vacation resort.

Then we went to the harbour and booked a trolley tour. The trolley took us all over town, ...i.e. the gaslamp district (San Diego's entertainment district with great little shops, bars and restaurants):

...to the beach on Coronado (island).

...at this hotel we got off the trolley to walk a bit and get lunch:

Marilyn Monroe stayed here-> "some like it hot" was shot there!

...on that tour we got a really good impression of San Diego, it's people, houses...and streets:

After the tour Jacob took us to Mount Soledad...

...and to the beach. We just missed the sunset but it was still gorgeous..and coooold.
